Northern Sumatra is home to one of the most amazing, friendly and breath taking rivers on the planet – the Asahan. Flowing from the legendary Toba Caldera (the only super volcano to have erupted in human history) the Asahan has a short but exciting course before it reaches the Ocean in the Malacca straight. Hydro Electricity projects in the late 60’s have resulted in the river having constant water levels on the Class 5 to 3 white water sections that cover over 30 km.
