Sea Kayaking Tragedy at Dungeness Bay

Paddling Magazine shares a story you want to see.

A Washington hiking and kayaking club met at Dungeness Spit for a trip out to the New Dungeness Lighthouse. All seven paddlers were wearing life jackets and the water was 49 degrees.

The weather took a bad turn while out kayaking and the paddlers had flipped into the icy waters. A rescue helicopter picked up Bill Kelley and he was able to recover in an intensive care unit. Jacob Austin and Mandi Walkley passed away as a result of hypothermia.
