Coffee with Chips – a downstream diary: Destination Portugal
Portugal is a popular winter escape for Brits chasing warmer weather—and for Palm paddler Andy “Chips” Kettlewell, it’s no different. Swapping grey skies for river time, Chips set off in search of winter sunshine and quality whitewater.
As is often the case, the weather forecast didn’t quite deliver. But northern Portugal’s classic runs don’t need much rain to be runnable, and there was still plenty of fun to be had on the water.
Chips was joined by Palm Grom Siren Saetre, along with paddlers Oli Cooper and Sam Merritt, making the most of the conditions and soaking up everything the region had to offer.
